How @our_journey_at_81 transformed this room with the help of a Mazona Ripley 8 kW Ecodesign Ready Multi Fuel Stove

You can’t accuse Gr8Fires customers Laura and David of a lack of vision.

The couple are currently undertaking a renovation of an early-20th century property, and documenting their progress via their Instagram account @our_journey_at_81.

One of the changes they’ve made has been the installation of a Mazona Ripley 8 kW Ecodesign Ready Multi Fuel Stove in their living room.

The stove has been incorporated into a feature wall that also includes a wall mounted television and a group of recessed shelves, one of which houses a supply of logs for the woodburner.

It’s on impressive room on its own merits, but even more so when you compare it to how it looked when Laura and David bought it.

The property was looking very dated. While the building itself dated from the 1900s, the interior was struck in the 1960s and 1970s. Garish carpet; a tiled open fireplace, heart and mantel; and wooden cladding on the walls were among the features to which time had not been kind.

Laura and David have been able to bring a contemporary look to the room, while also using some of its best period features.

The impressive cornicing, which accentuates the generous ceiling height, is retained and enhanced.

Radiators are brought right up to date in design and efficiency, yet are more in-keeping with the age of the property than the ones they are replacing.

An eye-catching curved wall is given more prominence, while an existing alcove and cupboard space is used to create four recessed features shelves, while also discreetly housing a consumer unit. Swipe across to see how that part of the room progressed.

The wooden cladding and loud carpet are gone in favour of subtle panelling and new flooring.

Of course, our particular area of interest is the fireplace, where a dated fireplace has given way to the Mazona Ripley stove.

As well as pumping an impressive 8kW heat output into the room, the stove is also Ecodesign ready, which means it is built to deliver the lowest level of emissions and the highest standards of efficiency in accordance with new legislation coming into effect in 2022.

The Mazona Ripley provides contemporary design and cutting-edge technology, but the timeless cosiness of lighting a real fire. In that respect, it’s perfectly in-keeping with the modern twist Laura and David have brought to their period property.
