When do you need to buy new stove rope?
You need to replace the stove rope when it is no longer forming a seal between the door and the stove body. The rope may stop sealing correctly if it becomes squashed, broken or frayed. Some of those you will be able to determine by simply look at the rope. Another way to check the rope seal is to trap a piece of paper in your stove door. If you can slide the paper back out without tearing it when the door is closed, your existing rope stove is not doing its job properly and should be replaced.
Why should I replace the stove rope?
As we’ve mentioned the rope forms a seal around the door and the glass of your stove. This serves the twin purposes of keeping smoke out of your room and keeping unwanted oxygen out of the stove. You want the amount of oxygen getting into your Mazona Rocky to be controlled by the air vents, not through a leaky door. Extra oxygen can result in an inefficient burn and overfiring, which can cause damage to your stove. In short, stove rope that is doing its job properly will save you money in the long run.
